Couples Therapy and Individual Therapy via Telehealth in Arizona — Remix Counseling with Matt Sandoval, LMSW

Couples and individual therapy rooted in emotional safety, honest reflection, and the belief that your story isn't finished yet.

Our Therapeutic Approach: Emotionally Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

We don't just talk about what's wrong. We slow down enough to understand how the patterns formed — and then, together, we begin to remix them. Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, this work is about moving toward what matters, even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard.

Matt Sandoval, LMSW, couples and individual therapist in Arizona — Remix Counseling

Matt Sandoval, LMSW

I've spent nearly two decades working in human services — leading organizations, sitting with families in crisis, and learning that the people who carry the most are often the ones who get asked about it the least.

Remix Counseling grew out of a simple conviction: that therapy should feel like a place where you're finally allowed to be honest about what isn't working, without someone rushing you toward a fix. I'm trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I bring a clinical lens shaped by years of direct service, not just theory.

I work with couples navigating disconnection, conflict, or the quiet erosion that happens when life moves faster than the relationship. I also work with individuals processing transitions, grief, identity, and the weight of being the person everyone else leans on.

All services are currently offered via secure telehealth for clients located anywhere in Arizona. In-person sessions in the Goodyear/Buckeye area are coming soon.

Before you reach out

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about understanding — not fixing. We'll talk about what brought you here, what you're hoping for, and what your world looks like right now. For couples, I'll meet with you together first, then schedule brief individual sessions to hear each person's experience. There's no pressure to have it all figured out before you walk in.

How is this different from other therapy?

I don't do surface-level coping strategies or homework sheets you'll never look at again. This work is relational, experiential, and grounded in what's actually happening in the room. If you've tried therapy before and it felt generic, this will feel different.

Do you take insurance?

Remix Counseling is a cash-pay practice, which means you pay directly for services. This structure protects your privacy, eliminates the need for a clinical diagnosis to begin treatment, and allows me to focus on what you need rather than what an insurance company approves. I can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what you're working through. Some couples find clarity in 8–12 sessions. Others want ongoing support as they navigate a longer season of change. We'll check in regularly and adjust. You'll never be in the dark about where we are or where we're headed.

Where are sessions held?

All sessions are currently offered via secure telehealth. You can attend from anywhere in Arizona — all that's required is a private space with a reliable internet connection. Clients must be physically located in Arizona at the time of each session. In-person sessions in the Goodyear/Buckeye area are coming soon.

What hours are available?

I offer evening appointments and some weekend availability to accommodate working schedules. Specific openings are discussed during your free consultation.
